Sexual Misconduct Interactive Resource Guide

For Students

What if the perpetrator is not affiliated with UVA?

The Title IX Office can only investigate cases where the perpetrator is affiliated with UVA. If the perpetrator is a student from a different university, then UVA's Title IX Office can help you report the incident to the perpetrator's institution.

If the perpetrator is not a student, affiliated with UVA or another university in any way, or if you do not know who the perpetrator is, you still have the option of reporting to the police. Ben Rexrode and/or the Student Safety & Support Team (SS&ST) can assist you in reporting to the police.

If you participate in the reporting and investigation process at another university, SS&ST will remain available to support you throughout that process. Other on-Grounds resources and support like Student Health and Wellness and Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) are available as well.
